Natal Originals (birch) 4 piece shell pack:

Snare

DW Design Black Nickel Over Brass 14″ x 6.5″ snare

Heads

  • EMAD 2 Kick batter side
  • Evans EQ3 ported reso head
  • Evans EC Reso heads on the three toms
  • Evans EC2 batter heads on the three toms.
  • Ambassador Snare side reso

I also like the Evans G2/G1 combination for a more open, resonant and old-school sound.

Snare batter heads – currently three I like to use:

  • Remo CS Reverse dot
  • Remo Powerstroke 3
  • Evans HD Genera (probably my favourite in terms of ease of tuning and quality of the coating)

Cymbals (currently in use):

  • Zildjian 14″ K Custom Dark Hi-hats
  • Zildjian 20″ K Custom Dark ride
  • Paiste 602 Modern Essentials 17″ Crash (left side)
  • Paiste 602 Modern Essentials 18″ Crash (right side)

Hardware

Stands are a mix of Pearl and DW:

  • Pearl H1050 Eliminator Redline 3 Legged Hi-Hat Stand
  • DW 9701 Boom stand (short) – for the ride cymbal
  • Pearl AX-25 multi-clamp and DW SM912L Cymbal boom arm for mounting the Anarchy Crasher to the ride boom stand
  • Pearl BC830 Boom stand (for left side crash)
  • Pearl BC930 Boom stand (for right side crash)
  • Pearl S930 Snare stand
  • DW 9399 stand for the rack tom

Pedals:

  • Pearl Eliminator Redline P2050C (single pedal, chain drive) – I use this with the Acoustic Kit, as I like having matching kick and hi-hat pedals. I think this is a great pedal, and the interchangeable cams are not at all a gimmick.
  • DW 9000 (Single pedal, chain drive) – I use this with my E-kit.
  • Tama HP910LN Speed Cobra – I bought this when going through a bad “my kick drum doubles suck big time” patch, searching for salvation through expenditure rather than what was really needed – focussed practice and time! It’s a great pedal, and remarkably good value for money.

Other:

  • Gauger Percussion Flexframe snare stand isolation system for the rack tom
  • K&M 19724 iPad Air 1 holder, clamped to the hi-hat stand. I use this for my 2017 iPad
  • Meinl “Zebra” drum rug
  • Aquarian 1″ Studio ring for muffling snare when recording
  • Sonitus Kicker kick drum insert
